International Developments in Cross Border Taxation

The Multilateral Convention to Implement Tax Treaty Related Measures to prevent Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS MLI) marks the determination of the international community to combat base erosion and profit shifting which has been a concern for not only industrialised countries, but also for emerging economies and developing countries. The Hong Kong Government has plans to bring Pillar 2 into force in 2025 and has started consultation.

This will also make trade more sustainable, transform our cities, improve air quality and create new opportunities. Engagement session on Hong Kong Minimum Top-up Tax under BEPS 2.0

The Financial Secretary announced in the 2023-24 Budget that Hong Kong planned to apply the global minimum effective tax rate of 15 per cent on multinational enterprise groups with annual consolidated revenue of at least EUR 750 million under the BEPS 2.0 package and implement the HKMTT starting from 2025 onwards. 
The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB) has commenced a consultation exercise to gather views on the specific implementation issues on or before 20 March 2024.

This year's HKFTW will feature: A main conference and exhibition on 28-29 October (Mon and Tues) at AsiaWorld-Expo; GBA Day, including a one-day visit to tech giants in Shenzhen; A virtual event platform for live-streaming sessions, networking, and online exhibitions; and satellite and networking events throughout the week.

Organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), the highly anticipated annual “Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival” is set to make a triumphant return to the Central Harbourfront Event Space. This year’s festival promises to be bigger than the previous year, with an expanded array of wine and food booths. Drones: A Behind the Scenes Look
