Reciprocal Recognition and Enforcement of Civil and Commercial Judgments between Hong Kong and Mainland
To pursue the objective of effective implementation of the "one country, two systems" principle, the Department of Justice has taken steps to develop mutual legal assistance between the Mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) so that disputes with cross boundary elements could be dealt with more effectively.

Under Article 95 of the Basic Law, the HKSAR "may, through consultations and in accordance with law, maintain juridical relations with the judicial organs of other parts of the country, and they may render assistance to each other".

This arrangement came into force on Monday 29 January 2024. Click on the title at left for full details.

Opportunities relating to Hong Kong's infracture development
The Transport and Logistics Bureau has outlined Hong Kong’s major transport infrastructure development blueprint for the coming 25+ years. If past experience is anything to go by, it is safe to say that most, if not all, of these project will be implemented more or less along the timeline shown on slide 23 of the presentation accessible by clicking the image at left.

The Financial Secretary has referred during meetings to investment of HKD90bn in infrastructure spending every year in the past few years, and this is set to be maintained at around HKD100bn per year in the coming few years, some of which will be financed by bonds.

Very few developed economies in the world have this kind of budget for greenfield development and this is seen as offering exciting opportunities for strong (but not necessarily large) companies who offer excellent and competitive products and services. This is the continuation of a long running trend driven by the solid infrastructure investments planned by the Hong Kong Government and entities such as InvestHK stand ready to assist any business in expanding their presence in Hong Kong to explore and tap into these opportunities.
